IND vs. ENG, 2nd Test: On Day 4, India Is Getting Nearer to Leveling the Series

While India claimed five crucial wickets in the session to reduce England to 194 for six at lunch on day four and move closer to winning the second Test match here on Monday, Zak Crawley struck his second consecutive fifty of the match.

England attacked the Indian spinners who persisted in getting the crucial breakthroughs without hesitation, as was to be anticipated. Despite losing too many wickets, the visitors were still able to score 127 runs throughout the session.

At the crack of lunch, Kuldeep Yadav removed Crawley (73), and Jasprit Bumrah caught Jonny Bairstow (26), putting England, who still need 205 runs to win, in serious trouble.

By far the greatest batsman on display, Crawley combined aggressiveness and prudence to perfection before being declared leg before wicket off Kuldeep after a tight DRS review.

Kuldeep got a ball to spin back in from middle stump on the sixth delivery of his first over. The ball seemed to be traveling down the leg, but DRS revealed that it had struck the midpoint of the leg stump.

At the interval, Ben Stokes, who had not yet faced a ball, found himself trapped.

Bumrah, the game’s most impressive bowler for India, gave it his all over the two-hour session. Bumrah bowled one extra in his initial burst, then came back towards the end of the session to send back Bairstow, which was impressive for someone who has been playing in four-over bursts.

Although the bounce is changing, the pitch is still good for batting.

Although Crawley used a controlled approach, players like Pope and Root lost their lives trying to hit hard. Especially Root, who danced down the track and tried for a crazy slog without reaching the ball’s pitch to be caught at short third man, handing Ashwin his 499th wicket, will be upset with his performance.

While Pope delivered a brilliant catch to Rohit Sharma at first slip from Ashwin, the Indian captain made no mistake in pouching it, while Axar Patel found Rehan’s pads with a straighter one.
