India vs. England: Social media goes crazy after Rohit Sharma’s incredible slips

<p>On the fourth day of the second Test in Vizag, India’s captain Rohit Sharma pulled an incredible catch in the slips, sending England’s Ollie Pope packing. Pope edged a ball from Ashwin, putting Rohit, one of the best fielders in the Indian squad, in the slips. The Indian team and its supporters celebrated when Rohit grabbed hold of the ball and scored a one-handed stunner, despite his split second response time.</p>

<p>Pope, who amassed an incredible 197 runs in the first Test, struggled to find his rhythm in the second. He was destroyed by the viral Jasprit Bumrah yorker in the first inning of the Vizag match. Because of Rohit’s outstanding play in the slips, Ashwin was able to dismiss the England player in the second innings. This is the video:</p>

It took a while for even Rohit to see that Pope needed to go back to the pavilion since the ball was stuck in his palm. His own response summed up the outstanding effort well. Social media users praised the Indian captain for the incredible grab.</p>
<p>Regarding the game, on the fourth day of the second Test against India, England was 194 for six at lunchtime in their second innings as they attempted to chase a record 399 runs. During the interval, Ben Stokes (0) was at the wicket with England still needing 205 to win.</p>
<p>In the morning session, R Ashwin removed Ollie Pope (age 23) and Joe Root (age 16) from the Test, increasing his wicket count to 499. In the last round on day three, he had eliminated Ben Duckett (age 28).</p>
<p>At the end of the lunch break, Kuldeep Yadav caught Zak Crawley (73), and in the 43rd over, Jasprit Bumrah had Jonny Bairstow plumb.</p>
<p>On day three, England were 67 for 1 at stumps.</p>
<p>In their two innings, India had scored 396 and 255, while England had lost their first essay at 253.</p>
