Problems in Pakistani Cricket: Inzamam-ul-Haq Disappointed by Review Meeting, Mohammad Hafeez Resigns

Following an Asia Cup review meeting that was place not far from the ODI World Cup, the Pakistan cricket squad has been involved in yet another scandal. Inzamam-ul-Haq, the head selector, reportedly had issues with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about the procedure’ timing—right before a major tournament when skipper Babar Azam would be subjected to awkward questions.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-195510″ src=”” alt=” rekha poses with shilpa shetty govinda and family during the sukhee movie premiere” width=”1412″ height=”795″ srcset=” 549w,×220.png 390w,×84.png 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1412px) 100vw, 1412px” title=”Problems in Pakistani Cricket: Inzamam-ul-Haq Disappointed by Review Meeting, Mohammad Hafeez Resigns 6″>

In the meanwhile, after the meeting scheduled to discuss the team’s dismal performance in the Asia Cup 2023, former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez resigned from the PCB technical committee.

Babar, head coach Grant Bradburn, chief operating officer Salman Nasser, head of international cricket Usman Wahla, and former captain Misbah ul Haq were present at the meeting, which was presided over by PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf.

I made the decision to resign from the Pakistan Cricket Technical Committee. As an honorary member, I served. I appreciate Zaka Ashraf sb providing me this chance, and I thank him for it. When Zaka Ashraf sb needs my frank recommendations for Pakistan cricket, I’m always here to help. As usual, my best wishes go out to Pakistan cricket,” Hafeez said on X (formerly Twitter).

According to a source cited by the news agency PTI, Inzamam disagreed with the timing of the drill.

The insider was cited as stating, “Inzamam is a very strong-willed person and he didn’t agree with the move by Chairman Zaka Ashraf to call such a review meeting and subject Babar and Bradburn to awkward questions by Misbah, Hafeez, and other board officials.”

The insider said, “Inzamam, who was a former captain and top cricketer, made it plain he was not pleased with the review process since this was the moment to encourage and promote the squad instead of subjecting them to an inquisition and displaying doubt in their ability.

While Inzamam was absent from the meeting, he did see Ashraf for a private consultation on the world cup roster on Thursday at the Gaddafi stadium.
