Glenn Maxwell returns as Australia names an 18-person squad for its ODI series against India

The 18-person Cricket Australia team has been named for the forthcoming ODI series against India, which will start on September 22. As a result of injuries experienced during the Ashes series and subsequent matches, many important players, including captain Pat Cummins, are making their comeback to the team.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-188527″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-download-2023-09-17t181704.525.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com download 2023 09 17t181704.525″ width=”1492″ height=”930″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-download-2023-09-17t181704.525.jpg 284w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-download-2023-09-17t181704.525-150×93.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1492px) 100vw, 1492px” title=”Glenn Maxwell returns as Australia names an 18-person squad for its ODI series against India 12″>

While Mitchell Starc was suffering with groin and shoulder pain upon his return from the UK, Steve Smith and Pat Cummins were healing from wrist problems. In order to attend the birth of his kid, Glenn Maxwell, who was originally scheduled to go to South Africa, had to return home after aggravating an ankle injury during training. He has now been cleared to go to India.

Following the conclusion of his eight-day concussion protocol, Cameron Green, who had a concussion in the first ODI against South Africa and missed three games as a consequence, is expected to play against India.

The squad’s notable absences are Travis Head and Ashton Agar. Agar missed the T20I leg due to a small calf injury he experienced before to the South Africa trip. Despite playing in the first ODI, he was later scratched owing to pain and had to go back to Australia to give birth to his kid. However, Head broke his hand during the fourth ODI and now has a little window to recover in time for the 2018 World Cup.

The team includes uncapped players Matt Short and Spencer Johnson. Australia has until September 28 to make adjustments to the World Cup roster; any changes made after that date need ICC permission.

Pat Cummins (captain), Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, and Adam Zampa are the members of the Australia team.
