RGIPT Inaugurates Key Infrastructure and Hosts Press Meet, Reinforcing Commitment to Innovation and Holistic Development

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology marked a significant milestone on 24 April 2026 with the inauguration of several key academic and student-centric infrastructure facilities, followed by a press meet held at 5:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the Director (2nd Floor, Administration Building). The event reflected the Institute’s continued commitment to strengthening its academic ecosystem while enhancing the overall student experience through strategic and purposeful infrastructure development. The press meet was attended by the Dean (Student Affairs), Dr. Koushik Guha Biswas; Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. Amit Ranjan; Assistant Dean (Research & Development), Dr. Ankur Pandey; and was presided over by the Honourable Director, Prof. Harish Hirani.

Addressing the media, Prof. Harish Hirani outlined the Institute’s vision of integrating academic excellence with holistic student development. He emphasized RGIPT’s focus on application-driven learning and innovation, supported by a robust pre-incubation ecosystem. Students are actively engaged in solving real-life challenges through projects undertaken at the Design and Innovation Centre (DIC). These initiatives have led to the development of several impactful solutions, including a mobile application for night canteen services, an online grievance redressal system for hostel maintenance and mess management, a digital campus entry–exit system, and ERP-based platforms supporting academic processes. These outcomes reflect strong student participation and reinforce the Institute’s emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurial thinking.

As per the proposed structure, students securing a rank up to 1000 in JEE Advanced would be eligible for a 100% tuition fee waiver, those ranked between 1001 and 2500 for a 75% waiver, ranks between 2501 and 5000 for a 50% waiver, and ranks between 5001 and 8000 for a 30% waiver.

The Director also briefed the media on the key infrastructure developments inaugurated during the day. These included the redesigned Director’s Corridor, aimed at enhancing confidentiality and administrative efficiency; dedicated and consolidated spaces for the Departments of Energy and Human Sciences and Mathematical Sciences, enabling improved faculty interaction, coordination, and research collaboration; and the foundation stone laying ceremony for a swimming pool, reflecting the Institute’s commitment to physical fitness and holistic development.
