IND versus AFG: Virender Sehwag Calls For Mohammed Shami’s Inclusion, Wants Star All-Rounder “Rested”

Former India opener Virender Sehwag advised one change to India’s starting XI for the match against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, advising Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to rest a crucial player.

On Sunday, October 8, India defeated Australia in a thrilling match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium to kick off their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign. The Indian squad then traveled to Delhi, where they would have a practice on Monday. Afghanistan will be their opponent on Wednesday, October 11. The Afghan Atlans will be trying to get back on track after being defeated by Bangladesh in their inaugural World Cup match.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-226775″ src=”” alt=” do you know oks complete form if not have a look at this download 2023 10 10t18162″ width=”1330″ height=”745″ srcset=” 300w,×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1330px) 100vw, 1330px” title=”IND versus AFG: Virender Sehwag Calls For Mohammed Shami's Inclusion, Wants Star All-Rounder "Rested" 3″>

Meanwhile, Sehwag believes that India should start Mohammed Shami against Afghanistan rather than Ravichandran Ashwin. According to the illustrious starter, the Arun Jaitley Stadium will provide different circumstances than the Chidambaram Stadium.

During the inaugural match played at the location between South Africa and Sri Lanka, about 750 runs were scored. Sehwag advised Shami to play and Ashwin to rest for the “big matches” after the Proteas posted the greatest total in World Cup history.

“I anticipate that Ravichandran Ashwin will relax. In addition to taking a wicket against Australia, Mohammed Shami has been in excellent form, according to the 44-year-old on Cricbuzz.

“The ground is smaller and this is a different wicket. Additionally, Ashwin’s age is a consideration. India would thus want to preserve him for the important matches,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ashwin stood out during his 10-over stint on his home field, taking one wicket and conceding 34 runs. The spin three, which included Kuldeep Yadav (2/42) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/38), dismantled the Australian middle order to hold them to 199 runs in total.

After India’s captain Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Ishan Kishan were out for ducks, KL Rahul produced an unbroken 97 runs, and Virat Kohli added 85 runs to help the hosts cross the finish line and earn two significant points.
