Yashasvi Jaiswal will take the place of backup opener Ruturaj Gaikwad in the WTC Final

Ruturaj Gaikwad will be replaced as India's backup opener for the next World Test Championship final (WTC) by the in-form teenager Yashasvi Jaiswal. Gaikwad has notified the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he won't be able to go to the UK until June 5 because of a June 3–4 wedding. Yashavi has been chosen as his stand-in and will shortly board a flight to London to join the rest of the squad.
Gaikwad served as a skilled backup option to openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill and was one of India's three standby players for the WTC final. The in-form Maharashtra captain will play in the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL) championship game on May 28 and has plans to wed before the summit match against Australia that begins on June 7 at London's The Oval.
Gaikwad did, nonetheless, let the board and team management know that he would be prepared to join the group on June 5. However, a report claims that Indian head coach Rahul Dravid requested Gaikwad's replacement from the selectors.
“Gaikwad has informed us that he won't be able to fly due to his marriage, so he (Jaiswal) will be joining the Indian team,” says Gaikwad. He might join the group after June 5. Rahul Dravid, the team's coach, then called and asked the selectors to choose a substitute. Jaiswal will thus soon board a flight to London, the BCCI source informed Indian Express.
Six Indian athletes, including former captain Virat Kohli, have just joined Rahul Dravid and his crew in London.
The revised Indian team for the World T20 Final includes: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishan Kishan (wk), Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yad
